My Portfolio Development Journey from Design and Technologies To Key Learnings

Harish P Avatar

Introduction

In today’s digital world, having a personal portfolio website is an important step toward building a professional online presence. A portfolio helps students and developers showcase their technical skills, projects, achievements, and learning experiences in one place.

As part of my internship at Valentius Kryptix, I developed a personal portfolio website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The main objective of this project was to create a responsive and user-friendly website that presents my professional background and technical capabilities.

Project Overview

The Portfolio Website is a personal platform designed to introduce myself as an Information Technology student and showcase my development journey. It provides visitors with information about my education, technical skills, projects, and contact details.

The website was designed with a clean layout, simple navigation, and responsive components to provide a smooth browsing experience across different devices.

Technologies Used

1. HTML5

HTML5 was used to structure the website and organize its content. Semantic HTML elements such as header, navigation, main, section, article, and footer were used to improve the structure and readability of the webpage.

2. CSS3

CSS3 was used to design the website and create an attractive user interface. I implemented layouts, spacing, typography, colors, responsive grids, and styling for different sections. CSS media queries helped make the website adaptable to different screen sizes.

3. JavaScript

JavaScript was used to implement interactive features. It handles the mobile navigation menu, dark mode functionality, and automatic updating of the copyright year.

Key Features of the Portfolio Website

1. Home Section

The home section introduces me with my name, professional role, and a short description of my interests. It also provides navigation links to explore my projects and contact information.

2. About Section

This section provides information about my educational background, internship experience, achievements, and interest in technology.

3. Skills Section

The skills section highlights my technical knowledge, including Python, Java, C, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and development tools.

4. Projects Section

The projects section showcases three projects:

  • Diabetes Risk AI – A machine learning application that estimates diabetes risk using health-related inputs.
  • EcoFi: Waste Management and Recycling – An AI-based waste management concept that combines waste classification, recycling guidance, and smart bin monitoring.
  • Government Scheme Eligibility Checker – A Python application that uses rule-based logic to identify eligible government schemes and generate PDF reports.

Each project includes a short description, technologies used, and a GitHub repository link.

5. Contact Section

The contact section provides my email address and GitHub profile so that recruiters, developers, and other professionals can connect with me.

6. Dark Mode and Responsive Navigation

I implemented a dark mode toggle to improve the browsing experience. The mobile navigation menu allows users to access different website sections easily on smaller screens.

Development Process

I started the development process by planning the structure and identifying the important sections required for a personal portfolio. Next, I created the HTML structure and used CSS to build the visual layout.

After completing the basic design, I implemented JavaScript functionality for interactive elements such as mobile navigation and theme switching.

I also organized the project into separate HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files to make the code easier to maintain. Finally, I uploaded the project files to GitHub and configured GitHub Pages to make the website publicly accessible.

Challenges and Key Learnings

During this project, I gained practical experience in combining HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to develop a complete website.

One of the important learning experiences was understanding responsive design and how website layouts adapt to different screen sizes. I also learned how JavaScript can improve user interaction through dynamic functionality.

Another important learning was using GitHub to manage source code and GitHub Pages to host a static website. This helped me understand the importance of version control and online project deployment.

The project also improved my ability to organize content, structure web pages, and focus on user experience.

Conclusion

Developing this portfolio website was a valuable learning experience during my internship at Valentius Kryptix. It allowed me to apply my frontend development knowledge in a practical project and create a professional platform to showcase my work.

I look forward to improving this portfolio by adding more projects, exploring modern web technologies, and continuously developing my technical skills.

I am grateful to Valentius Kryptix for providing this opportunity to learn, build, and grow as an aspiring developer.
